about Greg
Greg Hinsdale is a photographer curiously passionate about capturing a wide range of images of subjects or scenarios in a variety of settings since an early age. When he was about ten years old, his father began taking him on summer trips around the world. It was on these summer trips that Greg became interested in photography, shooting landscapes, people, family adventures and anything else that captured his interest. He even got into trouble for shooting too many photos of the same subject and justified his actions by saying that "each photo was better than the last"... this practice and mentality continues today.
At the age of fifteen, on another summer trip, this time to Germany, Greg and his father came across a fashion shoot taking place at the rooftop pool of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich. The photographer was directing everyone, crew members and beautiful models from various nationalities, speaking in different languages and having such a great time that needless to say, this fascinating experience made a lasting impression in Greg and the definite decision as what he wanted to do for a living after graduation.
In no time Greg managed to find his way onto numerous other fashion shoots, soon photographing the models himself and advertisement for local boutiques in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. After graduation from Santa Barbara High School, Greg enrolled in the Pasadena Art Center College of Design where he studied photography. In August 1990, he had the opportunity to assist Bruce Weber for a British Vogue photo shoot in Montana. After that experience he decided that he had to move to New York City. Greg obtained his BFA in Photography in December of that same year. As planned, he moved to New York City in February 1991.
Greg has since shot for American Express, Atkins, Bloomingdale's, Boston Proper, Broder Bros., Budweiser, Bugleboy, Casual Male, Chico's, Cintas, Claire's, Cutter & Buck, CUUR, Dillard's, Disney.com, Eddie Bauer, Foley's, Hecht's, Indigo Design, J.Crew, JC Penney, Kmart, Kohl's, Lens Crafters, Linens 'n Things, Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Marshall Field's, Mervyn's, Nautica, Nicole Miller, Nichlaus Golf, Nike Golf, Norditrophin, Novo-Nordisk, Oracle, Oscar de la Renta Parisian, Polo Ralph Lauren, Proffitt's, Regis, Resort Life, Rich's, Roaman's, Rochester Big & Tall, Sanmar, Sears, Sport Authority, Stein Mart, Tiger Woods Golf, TJ Maxx, Ulla Popken, Ulta Cosmetics and 3 Dots, as well as varios projects for ABD Group, AGA, Alpha, Avanti-St. Ives, Corbis, Dayton-Hudson, Farmboy Fine Arts, GSP Marketing, Haggin Marketing, Hart Schaffner Marx, KSC Studio, Lorel Marketing Group, Marke Communications, Meridian Advertising, Ogilvy & Mather Advertising and Roddan Paolucci Marketing.
